For Walter's 8th birthday, we opted for a brownies instead of cake since he is a "chocolate guy". Michelle and Johanna created the shark sprinkle design (traced from Walter's pinewood derby car). Walter continues to insist his cake include "cookies" (chocolate disks from Betty Jane) and marshmallows.
We were especially proud of Walter this year for his second grade Leader presentation. He chose Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson. He memorized an entire speech telling us about this leader!
Walter is not a man of many words. He doesn't like to tell us much about school and barely remembers teachers' and friends' names. Luckily, his teacher posts a few pictures to tell us what is going on in school. This year he got his two-by-two pet named Sebastian. Walter says he is not a sports guy but did start playing Gaga ball occasionally at recess and has some impressive moves; a few kids called him "road runner" for running fast to dodge the ball.
Walter does like to refer to himself as an animal guy - learning and sharing facts about animals. He is also a marvel guy, video games guy, and TV guy. Whenever given the option to go out somewhere (shopping, errands, etc.) or stay home, his choice is to stay home - unless we are going to the mall, then he likes to bring quarters and get a candy snack. Walter likes imagination focused play and can always be heard around the house making noises related to superheros or animals. Card games like war or garage and dance parties are also favorites.
One thing Walter NEVER likes is walking to school in the morning.
He isn't a fan of getting his picture taken, but when he does, he has a signature pose.
