We forgot to post Johanna's 5 month pictures. She has taken very well to sitting and eating this month. We knew she would be an early sitter because of her frequent stomach crunches, trying to lift up her shoulders while lying on her back. As for eating, she opens her mouth for the spoon before we even have it filled back up. She isn't napping as much in the evening but is now going to bed a little earlier (around 8) and still sleeping through the night. What a perfect angel!

Our little Tigger
The only person who likes to jump more than Tigger... Johanna!
But my question is, why does Johanna have her eyebrows up in nearly every picture we take of her? She is in a constant state of confusion? Or state of surprise? Or she knows just how to emphasize those big brown eyes?
And bonus point, did you notice both monkey photo bombs? :-)

Story time
Mommy gets her picture taken with Johanna every once in awhile. We had a nice little story about monkeys jumping on the bed. And a little reminder from Alicia that she likes jumping on the bed!
Carrots
Johanna tried her first real food, carrots. I think the jury is still out on whether she likes them or not. But we did get daddy to try them!

Year in Review
In my 2011 Year in Review I hinted that 2012 might be the best year yet! Well, that was a little foreshadowing because we knew I was pregnant but hadn't told anyone yet. :-) And of course the highlight of 2012 was meeting Johanna and seeing her smile. She is the most content little girl I have ever met and she makes us smile every day.
Johanna's milestones included sleeping through the night, starting daycare, smiling, laughing, and holding on to toys.
I was able to enjoy some work trips including the falls at Niagara, the scenery in Denver, hanging with friends in Phoenix, and Olympic Park by Salt Lake City.
We didn't get much running in but I did log over 570 miles on my Fitbit and lost the extra baby weight - and Tony now has a Fitbit too!
Tony took his longest vacation ever - two weeks for Johanna's birth - and I thoroughly enjoyed my weeks off for maternity leave.
We got to take a "babymoon" vacation to the Northwoods of Wisconsin and went kayaking on Lake Minocqua.
We met our emergency savings goal and hopefully never have to use it (although I could think of some pretty fun ways to use it).
We updated a few rooms in the house including the main bathroom, spare room, and setup the nursery.
With the exception of running a 10k, we were able to achieve all the goals we set out for in 2012. So what's on the list for 2013? Enjoy our time with Johanna and her milestones like sitting and crawling, continue to update the house including a new deck (and lots of baby proofing I assume ), take a mommy/daddy weekend, and run a second 5K!
On my own
Not only can I sit by myself (for a minute), I think I got this cereal thing down and I will take it from here!
