Walter Conferences

We had conferences this week with Walter's teacher Emily.  She had nothing but extreme praise for how well behaved and enjoyable Walter is.  He is meeting or exceeding all his developmental marks.  He gets along well with all the teachers and kids.  If someone steals a toy from him, he doesn't throw a fit or retaliate.  Instead, he asks the teacher for help and expresses what went wrong.  He is a very good listener.  The kids have to wait to get up from their lunch chair until the teacher calls their name and the teacher teased that he would probably sit there all day if his name wasn't called.  He understands the classroom routine and knows what comes next.  Emily said he is very laid back and happy pretty much all the time.  The only thing for Walter to work on is putting too many things in his mouth!

Johanna Days

Johanna was excited to get a set of pearls to dress up as an "old lady" for 100 Day at school. Here she is in her classroom.

And Johanna was able to go with Dad to a Loras girls basketball game again this year.  The popcorn was "too spicy" last year (too much salt) so she opted for a hotdog this year and did a good job of staying engaged in the game this year.  Notice the gloves inside her hat to cover her ears because the buzzer was too loud!

Warm February

During an un-seasonably warm weekend in February, the girls took a trip to Milwaukee while the boys hung out at home.  Good times had by both groups!

Cousin Fun

We had the cousins over to play at the new house after Christmas.

The basement was a good spot for the train set and jump-o-lene, of which the latter lasted almost a full month before we popped a hole in it, that we hope to fix.

And we found a use for those dining room door when a very intense game of sequence was going on.

Siblings

Johanna was grounded the other day for getting in to some of mom's things when she should have been in bed.  "Grounded" means she has to stay in her room and play by herself from after school to dinner time.  When it was time for her to come out, I asked "Do you like being grounded?". I expected the answer to be NO so I could explain that then she needs to make good choices.  Instead she said "I like it a little bit".  I asked her to explain.  "Well, Walter isn't in my face and everywhere and isn't yelling and hurting my ears.".   So I guess Tony and I aren't the only ones noticing how grumpy Walter is after school these days.  But he is happy when he has the RIGHT snack with the RIGHT show, and is RIGHT next to Tony.
