Poor Guster was left out of the other Christmas post. Visiting family was a great part of the holiday but Guster probably most enjoyed a lazy day at home watching all the Christmas movies on TV.

Johanna has started to laugh a little more but it is still hard to get a video - she doesn't like that darn phone in her face :-)  Here is a quick one that I caught.

First Christmas

Johanna had a wonderful first Christmas!  Some of her favorite presents included a squeaky giraffe from Santa, a porcelain shoe from Grandma and Grandpa Arnold, a hat/mitten/bootie set from Grandma and Grandpa Kluesner, and great toys/books from aunties and uncles - not to mention contributions to a college fund!  Uncle Drew was able to get a great family picture and awesome cousin circle.

School picts & germs

Johanna got her school picture taken and put on her cutest crooked smile for the occasion! She also picked up some school germs, as you would expect. She had a little cold after the first week and then had an eye that wouldn't stop draining.   We took her to the doctor who thought it was a plugged duct that was a little infected so she got some eye drops. Luckily, she is a pretty good patient and since it wasn't pink eye, she still got to go to school.

2 Month Checkup

Johanna had her 2 month check up this week.  She is still in the high percentages for height and made progress on her weight.  The doctor still thinks she will end up with a frame like her daddy!  This is just one of her outfits that we may have to retire soon because the pants are turning into knickers :-)

Back to Work

From my last week of work to my first week of work, what a difference two months makes!  Here I am showing off my new outfit I bought for my first day.  Now if you remember, Tony got the flu on his first day back but I got off easy with just a bad cold.  Luckily it is just three days a week for now!

First Day of School

Today was my first day of school!  Mommy doesn't go back to work until next week but we decided to give her a "me day" before heading back.

I got a morning bath and we took a quick family picture but I was too distracted - I was ready to go!  (Note that mommy thought I needed a bow for the picture even though she wasn't sending me to school in it which daddy just rolled his eyes at.)

 

I got to wear my new coat and hat that daddy's co-worker made.  Mommy FINALLY retired that pumpkin hat that she loved so much.  I also wore my new "jeggings".  We taught daddy they they are not called jeans, they are jean leggings, aka jeggings.  Get with the program daddy!  I convinced mom and dad not to take any pictures of me AT SCHOOL - that would be so embarrassing when I am trying to hang with the cool kids.  

After a long day at school I came home to relax in my new "lazy boy" chair and slipped into my slippers.  When mommy and daddy picked me up from school they were actually surprised to see me in the same outfit they dropped me off in!  I was overdue for a big diaper blow out and they were hoping I would take care of my business at school but I decided to save that special present for them. 

And here is my first report card!  Looks like they are willing to have me back tomorrow too!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Daddy's Girl

Any chance this little one will look like me?  I think she is going to be ALL daddy's girl and that's just fine with me. Johanna is pretty laid back like her dad. She loves her play mat and entertained herself the whole time I made dinner the other night. She does however have a "switch" where she goes from fine to screaming in a snap when she thinks she is about to get a bottle and you don't deliver.  The same thing happens when you stop to burp her, but mommy thinks its kind of funny :-)   And daddy says mommy and Johanna have the exact same sour face right before we cry, which happens to be daddy's cryptonite so watch out!  She is still sleeping very well, typically 5-9 hours a night as long as the pacifier stays in. We have a lot to be thankful for this year!

Johanna was fusing and we couldn't figure out why - other than she hasn't pooped all day, grandpa mike want to stop by?? :-)
Turns out she just wanted to play!  I think daddy went a little overboard on the hanging toys, she can work on her hand eye coordination dodging them all.
