In June, Michelle and Tony went on an American Lady cruise to celebrate their anniversary. A couple of hooligans tagged along and really enjoyed the snacks and playing cards.
For 4th of July, we went to Dyersville as is our tradition but tried something new this year and walked to the park to watch the fireworks there. We had sparklers leftover from last year to use at home.
In July we visited Lost Island amusement park. We were surprised Walter was willing to try some of the bigger rides (like the giant drop, even though he is afraid of heights) and happy that he enjoyed them! He also enjoyed many of the smaller rides. Johanna liked all big rides and the log ride was a favorite of all. It was especially nice that there were no lines. Although we didn't go to the water park, we sure got wet from a "little" summer rain.
Johanna participated in a downtown Where's Waldo event, visiting many small shops. And Walter enjoyed the ice cream ending.
Michelle and Tony got a chance to go kayaking in August. The water much more ankle depth than knee depth (and I don't think it ever reached chest depth). Luckily, we were able to mostly push ourselves free while staying in the kayak.
We purchased a bike rack for the SUV this summer so we were able to get a few extra rides in. Walter and Tony looked great on their bicycle built for two. We rode out to the Lock & Dam and took a break at A.Y. McDonald park.
