She stayed in Binz Hall which was the same place Michelle lived in her sophomore year at Loras. Unfortunately no air conditioning and there was a many cockroach sightings (aka Cokaroches - in an Italian accent) but all went well - even with only being allowed 3 minute showers each night!
Her roommate Clara was one of her favorite people in her huddle group. Her good friend Naya was part of her group as well.
Her major was Track & Field, and her minors were Softball and Adventure Challenge ropes course. We looked forward to checking the camp site each day to see photos of what she was up to! Lessons Learned: Wear long shorts for adventure challenge, if you throw really hard back to your softball partner - she will finally learn to soften her throw, track & field is fun but will be ready for a different challenge next year. Favorite part: Shaving cream softball.
She played so many other sports as well. Making a touchdown in football, some baskets in basketball. One of the favorites of the camp is Power Ball which is similar to softball but with a cricket bat and the rule to drop the "bat in the bucket!"
The camp keeps kids busy from 8am to 9pm with themes each night like Team Building Night (including hula hoop challenge), Strength Night (including tug of war), Fun Night (including a dance), and the Paddle ceremony (where Johanna got two brands - Discipline, Attitude). Her favorite meals included chicken strips and hamburgers, least favorite was meatloaf. Based on the photos, it looked like Fun Night was her favorite!
Thanks Loras College for another great year and we hope to be there next year!
