Walter 1 Month
Walter is one month old and has already had his first smile, on his one month birthday no less! Aunt Heather was able to get some big smiles while playing with him and we have been able to reproduce ever since. He still has all of his hair so far - which is one of the most common things people comment on. They also notice his big blue eyes, long toes, and long fingers. Those long fingers often pull out his pacifier and sometimes even wave it at us, but he is not much of a pacifier guy anyway. Walter likes to kick his arms and legs a lot which makes him a little harder to cuddle but he likes to just hang out on his back anyway. He has a decent amount of calm, awake time during the day and is a good sleeper at night time - waking up twice to feed but typically going back to sleep pretty easily. He has great head control and likes to be held up in a sitting position.
We had a nice long stretch with no open-air diaper accidents (daddy had a bit of doozy in the hospital) until the other night. Michelle looked away while changing his diaper and when she looked back he was peeing on his face. She yelled for Tony (who, based on the scream, thought Michelle had dropped Walter). As Tony was finishing up Walter's resulting bath, there was another accident but luckily Tony was able to step out of the way and the kitchen floor was the only victim.

Walter Hawkins Kluesner
Making is official blog debut!
Walter Hawkins Kluesner
Born: 6/29/15 3:11pm
Weight: 8 lbs 9oz (75%)
Height: 21.5 in (96%)
Head: 35.5 cm (44%)
Walter was born 2 days after his due date of 6/27. He was induced the morning of his birth since he wasn't really making much progress on his own. He is named for Tony's grandpa, Walter "Red" Koester, and Michelle's grandparent-like childhood neighbors, Edgar and Hilda Hawkins. Walter Hawkins is the same name we had picked for Johanna had she been a boy. (Johanna's name is a derivative of the names Ann and Joseph, which are present in both Arnold and Kluesner families, with Marie being Michelle's grandma's name.) If Walter had been a girl, he would have been named Eloise Rosemary, also inspired by family names.

Johanna: Can I have a juice box?
Michelle: We don't have juice boxes for breakfast.
(Johanna goes to pantry and points at juice boxes.)
Johanna: Yes we do, right here.
Michelle: I mean we don't eat juice for breakfast.
Johanna: DRINK juice for breakfast.

Dinner conversation
Johanna: there no more baby in your belly?
Me: No more baby in my belly, Walter is here now.
Johanna: You could have another baby in your belly. A baby girl.
Me: (laughter)
Johanna: you could have the baby girl LATER.
