Scouts & First Derby

Walter got his official Cub Scout uniform.

He is continuing to enjoy Cub Scouts with activities like a night hike.  One interesting cub scout meeting was when everyone realized the phone in the meeting room was a real working phone and the cops arrived after Walter called 911 and hung up.  Ironically, the meeting topic was First Aid Safety so they rolled with it and talked about how and when to call 911.  (And in Walter's defense, the phone is the exact same as the play phone they use at Mercy Daycare - though he somehow didn't hear Mom tell him it wasn't a toy and he shouldn't play with it.)

He earned his Bobcat and Wolf badges as well as several adventures. 

The big event was his first Pinewood Derby Car Race.  Walter wanted his car shaped like a shark so Tony found a pattern and Grandpa Wayne helped cut it out.    

Tony and Johanna helped paint but Walter did a lot of the work on his own - including adding a Black Panther necklace to the shark.

There were several heats one of which Walter's car won!  That got him into the finals.  He didn't get a top spot in the finals but he did win an award for best outdoor car design.
