Johanna Activities

 Buckle up!  It's time to review Johanna's Winter and Spring 2025 activities and there are plenty. 

FASST Track.  Johanna participated in winter FASST Track camp and competition in January.  She focused on High Jump skills and achieved 3 ft, 8 in.  She also ran the 55m Dash and was the fastest 12 year old, achieving a PR of 8.91 seconds.

Iowa Games.  Johanna also entered the Iowa Games and competed at the Hawkeye Indoor Track Facility in Iowa City.  Jen and Michael were able to join us and watch her compete.  For High Jump, she earned 2nd place medal with  3 ft, 8 in.  For the 60m Dash, there was a camera failure so her estimated time was 9.2 seconds which was approximately 6th place.

Track Coach. Johanna likes track (and Bryant) so much, she volunteered to help coach Walter's track team at Bryant.  The 5th graders inundated she with questions about middle school.  She really enjoyed it and hopes to do it again next year. 

Art Honor.  Johanna was one of just a couple of students selected to have her art displayed at the Dubuque Museum of Art.  

Orchestra.  Johanna played the cello again this year and had a concert at Senior H.S. and Wash.  She decided to drop orchestra next year while staying in Choir to allow some study hall time. 

Willy Wonka.  Johanna joined the VPA team as Props Crew and Shift Crew for their spring musical, Willy Wonka.  She helped build props and participated in each performance by helping moving set pieces, and most important - firing the confetti cannon!  Walter really enjoyed attending the musical, especially when Willy Wonka walked down the aisle and handed him a chocolate bar golden ticket!

Washington Activities.  Other activities Johanna was able to participate in at Wash included: 

• Choir: One of her favorite classes.
• 6th Grade Basketball: Two weeks of after school intramural basketball which she enjoyed and is looking forward to joining Jr High team next year.  
• Club Time: Friday afternoon club time including Gym Club, Crime Solving Club, and Gratitude Gang. 
• Battle of the Books: Trivia competition based on books read.
• Dances: Country theme, Valentine theme, and Beach theme.
