A little about Johanna……
She does very well in school, achieving in the 90th percentile in standardized tests and typically happy to go to school. This year she joined the choir too.
Johanna is very helpful at home, even joining in on some bigger jobs.
And she loves being involved in sports - both softball and basketball again this year, and she is excited to start track at Bryant next year.
Speaking of track, Johanna got to run the Grandview Gallop again this year, placing 9th in her division.
2022. F 9-10. 9. Johanna Kluesner (Dubuque) 00:07:49
She had an unfortunate run-in with a slippery bathroom floor at Coconut Cove resulting in a chipped front tooth. We were able to get it fixed and back to normal 2 days later.
Johanna always likes to be doing something. She got a kids cookbook with age appropriate recipes and instructions. Here she is baking and Walter is making a video blog about it (and distracting her).
Turning 10 means Johanna has aged out of attending Mercy Daycare. Ironically, Johanna’s last day was also her favorite teacher’s last day. Johanna brought donuts for everyone and her teacher, Amy, presented her with a special crown.
She got to read a book to a younger class on her last day.
Although she will no longer be at Mercy, Johanna said Dad was NOT allowed to take the letter J out of his window (which has been there since she was about 2 years old, so she would know which window is his while she was playing in the playground). Johanna said it needed to stay there until HER kids are at Mercy Daycare (but now says it only needs to stay 2 more years).
Johanna was very excited to have a friend’s birthday party at Vertical Jump.
But of course, we still needed to get another cake for her actual birthday.
Dad says….. Johanna is responsible, trustworthy, determined, ingenuitive, inquisitive, caring (especially about social justice) and AWESOME!
(Johanna and Dad often get into conversations about news they see on the Today show before school as well as current events, sports and history facts. I guess Tony is prepping her to be the next Trivial Pursuit champ)
Walter says…. Johanna is faster than me and bigger than me. I like to watch TV with Johanna and play drones with her.
(Walter and Johanna continue to get along well most of the time. They play games like Qwirkle with Dad, build “planes” with chairs, and bring their stuffed animals together. In fact, sometimes they get a little too crazy and loud for Mom and Dad.)
